Leaf bug and it's amazing camouflauge

I found this bug attached to a screen at a camp I visited a few years ago here in Japan. Amazing how leaf-like this bug is, right?

Anyone NOT see purposeful design in this bug?

Can anyone explain how this bug could have developed the new enzymes and genes necessary to produce the size, color, shape, texture, etc. that enables this bug to camouflage itself like this and imitate a leaf?

How did the bug survive before it had this ability?

Why don’t all bugs evolved like this if the strategy is so good?

It even has apparent veins in it just like a real leaf! Amazing!
